Lighting Installation and Repairs

Knob and Tube Rewires
Many homes in our area were built before the 1950’s and have what is called "knob and tube" wiring. You can determine if you have this type of wiring in your home by looking up at the joist or down under the insulation in the attic or basement.
After SETT Electrical rewires your home, we will provide you with a Certificate of Inspection from the Technical Safety BC, certifying that your home was rewired to the 2018 Canadian Electrical Codes' standard.

Installing your generator safely
Generators that aren’t installed correctly put you, your family, your property and line crews at risk. Before you install a generator by yourself, consult a licensed electrician. Installing something you aren’t fully educated in could put the safety of yourself, your home or your business at risk. Don’t hesitate to have the generator installed by a professional and licensed electrician.
Service and Panel Upgrades
An electrical system needs a main panel to break up the power supply of 100 amps or larger down to branch circuits.
The professional electricians at SETT Electrical only use the highest quality panels (load centres) manufactured by Siemens, Square D or Cutler Hammer for your panel upgrade. Every panel that we install has a 1 year manufactures warranty, but typically these panels should last up to 40 years without any problems. We make sure the heart of your electrical system, the electrical panel, will be trouble-free for years to come.
SETT Electrical will open the appropriate permit with the Technical Safety BC prior to the upgrade, and will schedule the required inspection(s). The power will be disconnected while the work is being completed and will be restored once the job is complete. In most cases we can complete the service or panel upgrade with minimal disruption to the incoming power.

To ensure your family's safety and protection a SETT Electrician will check any electrical work done in your home to make sure it meets the requirements of the Technical Safety BC. The Code is a comprehensive regulation that minimizes risks of fire and electrical shocks. By law all electrical wiring installations in British Columbia must be certified as meeting code requirements after inspection by a licensed electrician. The inspector's main function is to protect you and other occupants of your building by ensuring the safety of the electrical systems.
Aluminum Wiring Solutions
Today, standard aluminum cable is usually used for main distribution wiring or feeder lines to bring electricity to the home. Aluminum wire itself is considered reliable when used in the right application and if it is carefully and correctly installed and maintained. In the 1960s to late 1970s aluminum wire was used for branch circuits in a lot of homes which ended up causing electrical issues. This, in turn, caused the aluminum wire to be banned from branch circuits in homes.
